November Candlestick
It’s hard to believe how the fall is flying by.
October was a spectacular month of activity for Sisterhood.
I’d like to thank our Sisterhood volunteers who made so much happen.
Our High Holiday observances were very memorable this year, and Sisterhood was there to help.
Jackie Fenton coordinated the Rosh Hashanah greetings and Oneg Shabbat sponsors.
Thank you both to Jackie and to all of our supporters!
Thanks also go to Libby Stein who, once again, arranged for all the delicious food at our Yom Kippur break fast.
And let’s not forget Myrna Fleisher
and Monique Mendelson, who helped with our Simchat Torah celebration!
Aside from the holidays, our members also got the year into high gear with lots of Sisterhood-specific activities.
Stacey Vinder updated the Sisterhood bulletin board…a refresh that was sorely needed!
Our Kick Off celebration was a huge success, thanks to chairs Fiona Markel and Sandy Gonzalez.
We “officially” started our year with a delicious breakfast, fun door prizes, and a special guest speaker. . .
Lois Davis, who taught us to reduce stress, eliminate negative energy, and reconnect with ourselves.
Thank you, Lois!
October also saw our first Sisterhood Marketplace. Stacey Blumenthal and her committee worked hard to provide us with a shopping extravaganza.
Many PBJC members came to shop from the fabulous vendors…and Sisterhood members received an extra discount!
As always, scrip is available at our events from Sheila Weinreb.
Finally, Pilates started again in October, coordinated by Estelle Stein.
Coming up we have many items on our Sisterhood agenda:
- November 16th
is the deadline to place orders for our Chanukah fundraiser.
Act now to get cookie dough and Chanukah cookie cutters!
(For you non-cookie-eaters, pizza and cheesy breads are also available.)
Contact Michelle Zuckerman or Kim Stiller for details.
Making Chanukah cookies has never been easier!
- November 17th
is the night we’ve all been waiting for!
Jennifer Marchant and Betsy Steckelman are putting together a fabulous Paid Up Dinner and Program.
Come enjoy an evening at the Middle Eastern Bazaar.
Feast on Middle Eastern food, stroll down the “street” or learn to belly dance.
We certainly hope to see you there!
Mark your calendar for 11/17 and don’t forget to RSVP!
- November 20th
is our deadline for sending your special college student a Chanukah package.
Email your orders to Maggie Sanders at margaret@millerattorneyatlaw.com.
- November 20th
is also our first tot Shabbat for the year.
Z’havah chairs Stacey Blumenthal and Karen Kraut are planning a short service followed by a themed dinner.
·
December 16th is our annual pre-school Chanukah Party, co-sponsored with the Men’s Club.
We can’t wait to see what Michelle Zuckerman, Rebecca Freed, Adi Sabet, and Susan Osias have planned!
·
January 10th is the date for our Sisterhood and Men’s Club Blood drive.
We hope you will come out to donate.
Blood supplies are particularly low at this time of year.
Roberta Ginsberg will take your appointment!
There are so many ways to support PBJC Sisterhood.
Of course you can always purchase scrip, or buy from our Judaica Shop.
But most important is your participation – please come and hang out with YOUR Sisterhood at our upcoming events!
I hope to see you soon!
B’Shalom,
Ellen Mass
President, PBJC Sisterhood
