Q: I am not a member of your synagogue. Can I still enroll my child in your program?
A: Absolutely. Although we give priority to synagogue members first, we welcome non-members to our program at all age levels.
Q: My family is not Jewish, can we still send our child to your program?
A: Absolutely. PBJCNS welcomes all families of all faiths.
Q: What are your school hours?
A: School is open Monday - Friday 9:30 - 2:30. Our 2's attend school in the mornings 9:30 - 12:30. Our 3's and 4's students attend school 9:30 - 2:30.
Q: What kind of curriculum does your program offer?
A: PBJCNS offers a dual program, with both a Judaic and secular curriculum. On all age levels, there is an emphasis on seasonal holidays and celebrations, as well as thematic programming on a variety of subjects, including but not limited to the alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes.
Q: How old does my child need to be to enroll in your program?
A: Our Mommy & Me program is offered for children 12-29 months old. In our older 2's class, the children are required to be 2 by April 1st prior to the new school year beginning. For the rest of our class offerings, we follow the Montville Township School District age cutoff of October 1st. This means 2 by October 1st, 3 by October 1st and 4 by October 1st.
Q: How many children are in each class and what is the student/teacher ratio?
A: We allow for a maximum of 12 children in each of our 2's class, a maximum of 14 children in each of our 3's classes and a maximum of 16 children in each of our 4's classes. There is a lead teacher and assistant in each classroom. In the 2's classes, an additional teacher's aide works with the class to ease the transitioning of the school year from September - December only.
Q: Does my child need to be potty trained to enroll in your program?
A: While we do not expect our 2's to be potty trained upon entering our program, we do require this of our 3's and 4's students. Please note that our staff will not potty train your child - this is the responsibility of the parent. The staff, however, will in fact support and reinforce what is being taught at home.
Q: What time does morning drop off begin?
A: Morning Drop off is from 9:15 - 9:30. All students are expected to take advantage of car line, however, 2's students are encouraged to be walked into school for the first four weeks of school (minimally).
Q: Do you offer before or after care?
A: We do not offer before care or after care, however, 3's and 4's students have the option of registering for afterschool programming Monday - Friday from 2:30 - 3:30. Private vendors rent space from the synagogue and offer a variety of classes on site for our preschoolers. Currently, our offerings include basketball, fundamentals of sports, soccer, gymnastics and tae kwon do.
Q: Who provides lunch?
A: We are a dairy school only (no meat or shellfish permitted) and each day, parents are required to send in dairy lunches for their children. On Mondays, we offer a hot lunch program of pizza.
Q: What are the payment options?
A: You have two options - 1.) you may pay in full in August 2.) you may pay quarterly - August, November, February and May A bill will be sent to you each quarter. We ask that you pay your tuition promptly either by check or credit card (Mastercard and Visa only).
Q: Do you offer a summer program?
A: Yes, we offer a seven week summer mini camp which meets Mondays - Thursdays.
